Flowers

Every summer I cut my grandmas lawn. Tonight though, I was so tired. I just wanted it done.

However, every summer my grandma cuts the flowers for me to take home. They smell awesome!

The part that makes it so great is that when I was 10, I helped my grandma and grandpa plant these flowers. I used to help my grandpa mow his moms lawn in town. She had a ton of these flowers growing in her backyard. We dug them up and put them in a bucket. Then we took them back to my grandparents house and planted them along side the house. There they have been forever!!

Tonight I'm thankful for these flowered. P

Seniors

I will complete this tomorrow, but I am very thankful for our seniors tonight.

Last night, we honored our seniors between games. It was a tearful evening. I have coached many of these girls since middle school in basketball or softball. They have been such a great group of girls. The parents haven't been too bad either, suportive. They have raised fine young women. When I reflect, on this group, I think of how young they were when we first met.  They were little middle schoolers just trying to fit in. I remember Repasy coming to our pitching camp in 5th grade! How could you forget that red hair?  Boyt was always around as I coached her older sister in 7th grade basketball. Alexa, I met when she was in 7th grade playing softball. I coached her in 8th grade. Madison Cooper introduced herself to me after a little league game one Saturday. She was playing for Concord, the catcher. I remember right away thinking she had a decent arm as an 8th grader. Little did I know she'd be part of our program for the next four year. What a hoot, Cooper had been!  Ashley, I too met when she was in 8th grade. She played little league for me. She was always eager to learn. I liked her work ethic right away! Julia, now she was a tough one. I met her when she was in 8th grade too, but she was so quiet, it was tough to get a feel for her personality.

I have truely loved every minute of coaching these great girls. They have grown to be dedicated hard workers. They each have a passion for softball that you just can't teach. It's one you're either born with or you're not.  It's also an honor to know they walked the halls as leaders. They particpated in everything from other sports, to the honors art club, to NHS, to Select Choir, to Student Council, and Marching Band. I couldn't have asked for a better group of well rounded young ladies. I know thier parents are just as proud.

When these five tried out in March 2010, they were a little rough, but their intellengce and knowledge of the game, made us coaches, excited.  They just needed some fine tuning. They made it through hell week like Champs! I had to pull five up as freshman. The next year, they all were on the varsity roster. Now, I want it noted that of the eight in their class, three could not handle Western Softball for a full four years. They did not make the roster their senior years...all by their own choice. These five have stuck out some hard times, but NOT ONE OF THEM has said the word 'DIE'. They keep fighting every day.  They continue to improve. They are ready to fight for a District Title!

I could go on forever about each one of them. I am so thankful for all the great memories we have created in the Western Softball program the past four years.

I am so thankful for Alexa Pluta, Hannah Repasy, Hannah Boyt, Madison Cooper, Ashley Bonser, and Julia Zoski. They are quailty seniors that I will miss dearly. I hope they call come to visit me this summer, next year, and of course during our season next spring. Each of them is always welcome! I am thankful for our seniors!

Afternoon Nap

Today we had a shorter practice but a good one. The girls all had baccalaureate to get to so we needed to get out early. We did a lot of hitting and everyone swings are looking pretty good. It was exciting to see.

However, when I got home, Josh was resting our our bed. We had planned to make a lasagna since I am the world's crappiest meal planner and cook. Really, I suck at it. However, it doesn't really bother me that I don't make food a priority. It's just me and Josh. He's a big boy, he can fend for himself.

Ok, okay, off topic. However, I stuck that frozen lasagna in the oven and laid down on the bed too. 30 minutes later, I woke up to our dogs snoring. It was awesome. I didn't think I'd sleep, but I thought I would just lay next to Josh. Man, I LOVE power naps! They make your whole day better!

So today I am thankful for our power nap!!! Whoop whoop! Thank you God for allowing me to power nap today.

Family Time

Today I was ticked when I woke up at 7 and saw it was raining. I instantly went back to sleep. Screw the cold and the rain. Today was supposed to be a lake day!! With the family! It's the day we kick off summer. We ride on my mom and Larry's pontoon boat. We have a ton of fun. We laugh and we eat like crazy!

However, Mother Nature had other plans. Blah to her! She owes us one now.

I did get to hangout with my nephews and niece though. Also my whole family. We played some board games and just hung out. Kinda lame, but with the weather, what do you do?

I'm thankful for our family time!

Shopping in Lansing

Josh's sister is here for a birthdays visit. She came down to watch some softball and spend time with us. We decided to do sown shopping in Lansing before she continued north.  I made some fun clothing purchases. Josh purchased some headphones. We ate some lunch at Chili's and then headed home.

I really needed some new shorts and to do some long over due shopping. I was glad Erin could go with us too.

Thankful for a day of shopping.

Honesty

Today I appreciate honesty. My team had an evening planned to go to the U of m to watch some baseball played by our high school team. However, our team was tired and many didn't feel like making the trip. Many girls came in a throughout the day to share that with me too. They were very honest with me and I appreciate that. I personally didn't want to take 14 girls out of town when we they didn't want to go. That does not sound like fun to me.

We had a good practice. The we went our separate ways. I'm feeling a big win from them tomorrow! :)

I'm thankful for their honesty.

Memory Lane

Everything happens for a reason. I truly believe this statement. Even though I wanted to celebrate senior night with our seniors, I really didn't love the weather. It was cold and nasty outside.

I got to visit my nephews. I got to make dinner. I got to go through bills, but most importantly, I got to go down memory lane. I had a small project to do tonight. It required me going through some old scrap books and find some good softball pictures. I found some from my first Florida trip with a great group. I remembered all the fun we had together. It was great! Also, I found from that same year, the District WIN picture! That group won a District too! Awesome! They were die hards! I can honestly remember that game against Marshall with a sliding out at the plate for us to win! So sweet!

Tonight, I'm thankful for my walk down memory lane! :)

A Vist with Jordan

Tonight as Josh and I were heading home, I received a text message from my cousin Jordan. She asked if she could do some laundry at our place tonight. We of course do not mind, as she is going to college and working full time. Her apartment is right down the road too.

When we got home, she had already started her laundry and had the TV on the Tigers game! "Go Jordan!"  I got out some stats to work on and plopped down on the couch with her to watch. We talked about life and her upcoming Tigers game she gets to attend while I'm at work! :)  I'm really proud of Jordan. She's always been a hard worker. She supports herself and works her butt off day after day.

It was fun to hang out with my cousin Jordan tonight and watch the Tigers. I'm thankful our free evening allowed me to be home to hang out with her too! :)

Mother's Day

Today was Mother's Day. Seeing that I don't have any kids, this day is bittersweet. We celebrated with my grandma, and Aunts, cousins, and niece and nephews today. I purchased gifts and gave them all out.  I even gave each of my sisters a gift too.

I was surprised by my Aunt Mary giving me such a nice card and hand soap. Also, my niece Paige gave me a sweet card and planter with flowers too.

The women in my family are so kind and giving. I'm thankful we got to spend the time together today too.
