I watch TV. I might watch too much TV. I have my favorite shows each night. Thank goodness for DVR!! This lovely invention allows me to record my shows and watch them without commercials at my leisure. Wonderful invention.
Tonight while watching the Bachelor I kept flipping to The Biggest Loser. This show has always held my interest. Recently I have noticed more and more obese adults and children in the area. As I walked through the middle school halls, I am saddened by the kids who are significantly over weight. I instantly feel bad for the adolescent. My next emotion is anger. Anger at the parents for allowing them to not be inactive and for using fast food as meals more than once a week. Electronics are babysitters and if I could see their parents, they are probably over weight as well. My next emotion is sad. If weight is a family issue, it's probably closely related to some sort of depression. Honestly, all these emotions run through my head before I even meet my destination. The world has a problem.
I wish I could do more to help the world with this issue. It makes me sad to think of the self esteem issues that these people are facing daily. Thankfully, The Biggest Loser has taken the childhood obesity issue seriously. This season they are working with some younger kids to help them address their issues. They are helping them with some exercise ideas they are teaching them better eating habits. They are using some some youth to help spread the world to help fight childhood obesity. I enjoyed the past two episodes, but mostly I like the cause. I also like to see people push themselves to transform. It's awesome!
Today, I'm thankful for the show The Biggest Loser!
