Today I am thankful that I took yesterday and most of today off to rest and recover. I am feeling much better after that damn flu bug nearly killed me! Well, I'm sure many things are more painful in life, but that was still pretty awful!
I actually ate a bowl of rice tonight for dinner. Feeling about 75% tonight. I am thankful for feeling better.

People I can Count On
At about 11pm last night, my body was sick. Nothing would stay inside me. I ached and could not sleep because every 45 minutes I found myself in the bathroom hung over the toilet. At first I thought it was food poisoning but after the fever started, I realized I had the flu. Almost 24 hours later, I still feel awful.
It was a disappointing way to be celebrating our district win, home sick. It was even worse that I couldn't go to practice today.
However, I am thankful that my assistant coach Donna and my two JV coaches Janna and Kasey were able to fill in for me. They ran practice. It's the first time in 10 years that I've missed a practice due to illness. I am also thankful for my team and captains who communicated with me throughout the day.
But I am most thankful today for Josh who drove all the way to Meijer this AM for Sprite and Saltines for me to have all day. Tonight he took care of me as well.

Pre-District Win!
Our goal was to win a District Championship! Tonight, we started the goal. We defeated Marshall 11-0 at home! Great team win. I was happy with our 3rd inning two out rally. Taylor pitched a solid game. We didn't have any defensive errors. Seven of nine hitters got a hit tonight. All good things. I'm happy my team worked well together to win our first District game! Great job team!
I am also thankful for all the alumni and fans that came out to support our team. Our crowd was awesome! So fun to see everyone cheering and happy. I appreciate our loyal fans!

LAKE DAY
That title alone should explain to you the happiness in my day!!
This weekend was not as sub filled as I was hoping so today, was my fun in the sun day!! I was overly excited to see my family and my nieces and nephews too. I have missed them!!
The weather was beautiful! Everyone was in good moods. My mom and Larry organized a filling lake meal! All my cousins came from near and far to enjoy the lake! Tara bought The Lagoon for us to catch some rays on! Tara and I rode the jet ski since she couldn't last year since she was pregnant. ;)
All the kids were so much fun. I was happy for the lake day! Coming home to potentially our last practice was exciting for me as well. It was a good practice to start our week of District play! :)
Today I am thankful for a LAKE DAY!

A Trip to Cadillac
Today Josh and I got up super early for a Sunday and packed for a trip to visit his family in Cadillac!!
We hit Panera on the way out of town then shot north for 2.5 hours. I was not in a good mood, I must admit. We left 80 degree sunny weather only to run smack dab into the middle of a wicked thunderstorm. That sucker seemed to haunt us most the day.
We had to do a little sneaky business and a little lying to his sister as we only got there early to help set up for a surprise party for Erin's 30th birthday. Rhonda and Adam had been planning and coordinating with Josh and myself for a few weeks now. We wanted to really trick Erin. :)
After set up, we thought Erin had driven by and seen us setting up. Very disappointing. It turns out she had not. Phew!!!
We hung out with Erin and Adam today. We visited their parents, had lunch, ate cake and played some disc golf. The weather finally cleared for our afternoon.
In the evening, the plan was to meet their parents for dinner. We took a detour to Adam's parents and outside the crowd was waiting! :) SURPRISE!! Erin cried. We got her!! We had dinner, cake, and opened some presents. We got to see all of Josh's family. We had not seen his parents or sister since February. Rhonda did a ton of planning to make tonight go so smoothly. Their grandparents even drove down to celebrate Erin with us. Grandpa Bassett wants and iPhone. This man is awesome! He's a hoot and a talker. His grandma is thinking an Android phone. Ha. Adam's mom was super nice too. Her perfectly manicured landscaping was beautiful. Glad she offered to host the party there. A very good day! Now blogging on the ride home.
I am thankful for our day in Cadillac and being able to celebrate Erin Brink's 30th birthday! Happy birthday to my wonderful sister in law! :) We love you Erin!
More pictures to come from my camera.

Paige
Today was such a disappointing day. I woke up to the loud drops of raining pelting our roof. I hate rainy weekend mornings. I hate them more than cleaning toilets, doing laundry, or cooking!!! Hate! I wanted the sun to be shining!! It was my first Saturday that i didn't have to get up at 6am for a team breakfast (I do love those though).
Immediately, my entire daily plans had to change. I was more than pissed. I couldn't run outside or get my grandma's lawns done before our busy weekend started. Josh and I got some shopping done, but I was no peach. My poor husband. I loved though that my sister, my mother and a few friends texted me that they were in the same joyous moods. Hehe.
The one thankful in my day was our afternoon with our niece Paige. Tara had to work so we met her at the park and ride at 1:40pm an took Paige with us. To our surprise, Paige enjoyed being with us. She didn't seem to miss Tara too much like she had in the past. We made it through her 3 minute breakdown. Poor thing. We were happy she crawled around the house. Laughed, giggled and checked everything out. I even took her to the baseball teams game at the HS. He was a hit immediately. We sat with the Oliver's and the kids played with her.
I love Paige and I'm so happy tonight she seemed to be content without her mom and with us. :) I thankful that we had Paige to brighten our crappy weather day!

Friday Night with the Team
Tonight our team went to watch Western's Baseball team play at The University of Michigan!! They split a double header with Fenton High School. It was a fun evening together.
The best part was our little walk over to Alumni Softball Field where we checked out how the D1 softball players play. We enjoyed a little photo shoot compliments of Shannon Oliver! we've never seen such a beautiful field. It was eye opening to our team. They loved it!
We watched game two while eating some Papa John's Pizza. :) Western definitely brought more fans. It was nice to see the community members come to support the guys.
I was thankful our team got to enjoy the evening together. I couldn't ask for a better group of nice girls to coach and enjoy a Friday evening together! :)

Thank you Notes
Today was my teams Thank You note day! They had to write a thank you note to a teacher today. Today, as we got on the bus, I was glad to see the smiles on my girls faces as they shared how happy they were that their teachers enjoyed their thank you notes. That's the one happy in my day.

Little League
Tonight Josh and I went over to Gallagher to watch some of our favorite kids play some little league softball and baseball. When we pulled in to the parking lot, it was an awesome feeling to see all the spots taken! Little league games on a hot sunny night, bring Aunts, Uncles, Grandmas, Grandpas and friends out the the ball park. LOVE IT!
We talked to our friends the Moffitt's who we have missed. Julie Oliver is coaching Annika's team and it's loaded with an athletic group of 4th and 5th graders! Nice families too!! We saw some youth hitting and pitching. Lots of fun to see girls loving the game.
In between the softball and baseball fields were our family friends Dick Oliver and Marni Oliver. They were watching Annika's team and Courtland and Caden's team as well. We saw both boys pitch an inning. Marni and I even took a minute to look and around at all the little league action and reminisce about our glory days. We both said, "Little League is awesome!"

Seniors
Tonight, I am thankful for my two seniors Abby Fedewa and Michelle Leavitt (in no particular order). I have coached each of them for four years. There was not a JV team when they were freshman. They had grown so much since their freshman year. They've played every position we've asked them to without complaints. They've worked hard for four years for Western Softball. Tonight we celebrated with them. Their parents did a great job making posters, food, cupcakes etc for everyone. I am proud of Abby and Michelle. I will miss them next year. Thank you Abby and Michelle.
