Tuesday - Shipments

Today I enjoyed another day off. It's SO COLD!! I am happy I can at least leave the house.

Josh and I took a ride today tonight to check on our old house. Fortunately, it's ok. Pray that these people want to rent it this week. :)

When we returned, we found some packages had been delivered. Lots of baby stuff for the shower! Sweeeeet! It was fun to test out the new baby things. We also made some thank you calls. We are thankful for the generous people in our family!!

Snow Plow

Today I am so thankful that some neighbor plowed our road a one way track out! I hate being trapped inside. Josh was home today so about noon, we decided to venture outside.

Man did it relieve some stress I had building! I felt some strong cabin fever coming on. I'm not a good stay at home person. Having a baby will kill me.

I'm thankful we got out for a bit today.

S N O W

Holy snow! 17 inches in Jackson, 14 inches at our house. That's so crazy! I have not seen this much snow in one day.... ever really. We shoveled the driveway three times today. Crazy!!

The worse part of our snow was this mornings loss of power, however, there were some positives to the loss of power.

1. I had nothing to do buy workout in the dark this morning.

2. We went to Panera for lunch because we couldn't cook anything.

3. When coming home, we got stuck right outside our driveway, then we met our neighbors. :) And he plowed our driveway.

4. I went through all the materinty clothes that were offered to me, sorted, and put them all away to use for work the next few months.

5. We napped.

6. SNOW DAY!!!

Being pregnant and trying to help with heavy snow isn't too fun. I hate feeling helpless. However, I'm glad I sorted through all the clothes and feel ready for the next 10 weeks of being fat. Lets hope they go by quickly.

Birthday Party

Today we went to our nephew Wyatt's fourth birthday party. However, we had to dress up! Wyatt's request. Josh and I were fisherman. Josh had to look all over for our fishing gear too, but he found it. We love Wyatt!

The party was a huge success. Family and some friends joined in singing, cake, and present opening. Wyatt was in heaven.

Now, dressing up was a bit wild, but it was great to not have to squeeze into a tight shirt. Wearing one of Josh's fishing shirts was wonderful. :) ahhh. I ate pizza and cakes and ice cream without feeling it. Ha.

Watching the cousins play is so fun. It makes me excited for our daughter too. Roman, Emersyn, and Baby Bassett will all have so much fun in the next few years. Looking forward to it.

I'm thankful our family celebrates together. It's so fun!

Healthy

Friday

Friday I read about lots of unhealthy pregnancies. Not fun. I even saw some real posts about friends who were going through some rough times as well. They had loss numerous pregnancies just trying for their first. We know the feeling. Very sad.

I felt Baby Bassett moving throughout the day and was thankful for still carrying her. It's crazy how many pregnancies don't workout.

What to Expect App

As soon as I found out I was pregnant, we didn't want to share it with my family just yet. The pain we all faced in December 2011, was enough to make me not want to drag any other family members through the misery again. Plus, the family was a little stressed, Trish was having a baby and Tara too. Too much going on. One of the biggest things too was everyone telling me to 'take it easy', 'don't run', 'don't mow lawns', 'stay out of the sun', etc, etc. I wanted to enjoy my summer. So I did... We waited until the end of August to tell our families.

Since I couldn't ask my sisters too many questions and I wanted to stay up with the daily symptoms I should feel, I downloaded the popular What to Expect When You're Expecting app on mg iPhone. It posts daily information corresponding with your due date. Each day, was freakishly accurate...teeth hurt, headaches, etc.

Most the posts are full of helpful slightly stressful information. Today's however, I found a bit too much. Why do they try to freak people out? Don't they know that years ago, mothers never even had a an ultra sound before delivering a baby? There was no daily updates or millions of books or 3D ultra sounds, or home monitors to check heartbeats. We are in the 21st century, spoiled! I'm happy and not happy to be part of this day and age of pregnancy.

Below are some screenshots of my daily app. Please read the third one and tell me why they would write this?!?!! Who has the time to count the daily movements? And why freak out the new moms? Crazy!

Most days though, I'm tankful for my What to Expect app.

Becoming a Parent in 2014

Well today was the start of a new year! What better way to spend in than by sleeping in!! It was awesome. Made a little breakfast and found my lazy butt back on my couch watching some TV. Loved it. It was on the couch that I decided I might change my blog slightly. I feel I still need to remain thankful each day, however, I may lean my daily blogs more toward my final stages of pregnancy and the preperation of becoming a parent. It's my blog, right? :)

Today, I decided that my four to five week lack of serious exercise had to stop. I reminded myself how much better I always feel after a good workout so I put on my running gear and hopped on my new treadmill (for my birthday) from Josh. I made my fat self run walk for a minute off and on for a total of 20 minutes. Halfway through, I was really feeling good about getting back into shape. I was sweaty and breathing hard. Also, the overwhelming feeling of having to pee was taking over. But I was so happy I felt good after the workout.

Second, I've been reading the book, The Five Love Laguages of Children. I've read the adult version years ago. It's helped with my relationships with others and my coaching. This book I'm loving as I try to figure out each of my nieces and nephews love languages too. It's fun. I also want to make sure I'm prepared as a new mother to show our girl (no name, we can't agree) how much I love her without having to say the phrase "I love you." It doesn't so much for me... Anyway, the book is a good one. It has examples and real stories on parents with children all ages. I hope to pass it on to my sisters afterwards too.

Well there's much more to preparing for parenthood than painting the baby room, working out, and reading a book, I'm aware, but it's vacation so I'm starting slowly.

I looked in the mirror today after my workout and was reminded again that I do look pregnant. (I always forget more like try to forget.) A million stressful thoughts ran through my mind in a short minute's time, beginning with 'what will I wear to work? I wish I could wear jeans!' Deep breath, few days to plan for that still. :) I then reminded myself that so far this baby is healthy and I will not be pregnant for much longer. (Thank goodness!)

I'm thankful for my steps toward becoming a parent. I'm aware there are many more to take. "Deep breath!"
