Run

I finally got my lazy ace out for a run. I have been sooooooooo lazy. I can't get myself to get motivated. It's the end of the year. It's the end of softball season. I've been going 100 miles an hour. I've yet to be home before 8:30pm all week.

Bahahahaha! Those are all excuses that discipline, fit, in shape people who care about their bodies make to help make themselves feel better about their fatness. Ugh and boy do I feel fat these days.  It's bad.

So tonight, at 8:40pm I made myself run. I was only going to run a mile, but I made it two! I wanted to stop, but kept telling myself not to. Also, I kept reminding myself how hard I push my players each day. So I didn't stop (only to chat with the Fedewa's who stopped along side the road to say hi). I finished my run, did some exercises and took a shower.

Man, I'm thankful my guilty conscience kicked in high gear tonight. I ran. I need to keep running! Go me!

Press box Help

Tonight I am thankful for my girls helping. We had to empty out the pressbox for demolition. That sucker is full of stuff. Years of stuff! ahhh!! Not a fun job at all. However, the girls came with a good attitude and helped us load and unload things into the trailer. They rocked. I was so happy that we got it all done. Thanks to Janna and the JV team too. Job well done. A few of my seniors really came to help clean too. I was really impressed with them. :)

I'm thankful for our help today in a big project.

Free things

Today I was expecting to pay $30 for a used power washer, but instead, it was offered to me for FREE! Whoop whoop. Sounds funny, but I love power washing and outside projects. I'm usually borrow my step dads each summer. Now! I have my own. Whaoo! I'm thankful for our free power washer today! Can't wait until summer!

Lazy Day

I'm pretty sure I should not have stayed up until 3am watching college softball, however, I did. It was a rough morning. I didn't have any motivation left. I'm emotionally drained.

I left my house at 11:30am for the AllDistrict meeting and returned home at 4:35pm. My whole day wasted. That's ok. I didn't have very much motivation all day. I just watched college softball and did laundry.

I'm thankful for my lack of motivation today.

Tears

Today Western Softball 2013 ended. Today our seniors ended four years of hard work and dedication.  Today, our juniors became seniors on the varsity team. Today our seniors are officially done. Today, we shared tears!

I haven't had a group quite like this one in a long time. This was the hardest ending in a long time. It wasn't hard because it was over, but because of the heart our team had. The passion each senior carried for the game of softball made the ending even harder. We barely made it off the field before the tears started rolling. We circled up to talk. The first thing I said was how much I hate the ending. It's the toughest part of coaching by far. More tears started rolling. As Coach Klassen thanked the team, more tears. Coach Farmer started to talk, but couldn't hold back tears either. Mine had already begun. I heard Madison Cooper sob and the flood gates opened, not just for me, but for most the rest of the team as well. I could barely look at Hannah Boyt whose head was buried in her jersey. Each of the seniors said a few words. The juniors one by one, slowly sobbed too. What a train of sad emotions. Luckily Carlie Morrow had some tissues to share. We all needed them.

Now, I'm not happy that we lost today and ended such a fun season, but it was a slightly satisfying feeling to know that everyone and I mean everyone sitting there, had tears in their eyes. They all cared about each other and the season so much, they too didn't like the ending. I can honestly say its been a long time since since I've had so many tears. This says a lot about our team. It reflects how dearly our seniors will be missed. It reflects how this team was a family. It reflects how we played for the names on the front of our jersey's and not the names on the back. We were a team. No drama. Just softball.  It was a bittersweet moment.

Today I am thankful that when I look back to the end of the season, I know each of these girls got it. They were a hard working family. They cared.  I  thankful for our TEARS today.

Friday Post - Pre-District

Friday was a long day, but a great one. I just didn't have time to post.

This time of year is so exciting, yet also so sad. I hate knowing the seniors are near the end.

Friday was potentially the 'last practice'. If we lost, we were done. Season over. No more softball. No more seniors. Sad.

There are some traditions that Western Softball carries during this last practice. First we always say how it could be the 'last infield', we have the 'left field thing', then we take a few pictures, we sign the wall inside the press box too. We hope it's not the last practice...

My favorite part of the evening is going to my moms for dinner and fishing. We started this tradition years ago. My mom and Larry make dinner and sting lots of fishing poles for fishing. :) They are awesome. We don't have to provide a thing. They clean and cook for my our team to come enjoy time together. After spaghetti, we head outside to fish. It's a completion for most. Biggest fish or most fish too! Ha.  I think the girls really enjoy this evening together too. I know I do.

Tonight I am thankful for our Pre-District rituals in the Western Softball program.
