Baby Room is Done!

Today my goal was to get the baby room done. By done I mean painted and ready for the millions of overwhelming baby accessories to fill it.

Yes, it was New Years Eve, but what fun can a fat, no clothes fitting, can't drink, 33 year old have? Lines to eat are out of control and it was snowing. Blah. So I asked Josh if we could just paint and he said yes.

So I got up and set out to spend money at Lowes. Ugh. I was not in a good mood. But I went. The nice lady helped me with the mixing of paints. $50! Later, I left with our supplies.

Before Josh got home, I primed the dark blue wall with some white. Just well enough to cover the blue. So when Josh got home, we ate dinner and started painting about 6:15pm. Now I want it noted that I HATE painting. Really hate it. Always have. Mostly because I'm not a detail person either. I just like to get projects done. Josh on the other hand, would spend hours one minor detail. Time isn't an issue to him like it is me. The way I see it, the room is for an infant who could possibly be color blind anyway. She won't even know what color her room is until she's about two years old. Ha! Then we will paint it again. Details weren't worth it to me. "Get it done!" was motto. Josh did finally agree and we moved pretty quickly. 5 hours later, we put everything back in the room after removing the tape too. At one point, Josh thought about finishing tomorrow, but no way. I was putting all the supplies away TONIGHT. We did!! :)

I'm so thankful we rung in the new year painting, but I'm glad it's over!

Starting tomorrow, my blog will change a bit. :) Stay tuned....

Rest

Today I had to rest. Spent my morning running errands and grocery shopping. This enhanced my dizziness. Ugh.

I was supposed to have the boys over today too. Telling Wyatt he couldn't come over was not easy. Poor kid cried and slammed his bedroom door. Sad. I really didn't feel like spreading my germs or that I would be that much fun tonight with kids. I suck. But I had to cancel.

So I rested. I napped. I watched TV and movies. I did make dinner. :) But I enjoyed a day of rest.

I'm thankful I got to rest.

Cleaning Day

Sadly today was our cleaning day. I had worked the past two days getting home after  9pm. Needless to say, our house was a Christmas mess. After breakfast, we went to work. Seven totes, some odds and ends, and two hours later, we found new storage in the attic a great place to throw all. We cleaned. We took care of all our Christmas presents and my birthday presents, and Baby Bassett's presents ,and ALL the boxes. By four o'clock, our house felt back in order. We even walked the dogs. We left the house to have dinner at my moms and visit with Paige and Roman. :)

I'm thankful we spent today cleaning even though it makes me sad Christmas is over.

New Gym!

Today we opened our new gym with our Holiday Hoops Tournament. Lots of people from the community came to check it out. It was a fun night full of energy and excitement.

It's awesome to have the new gym. I'm thankful our community passed the bond for our new gym.

Christmas

What a long day!!!

I love Christmas Day. Ours started at 7am in Jackson, four houses and 180 miles later, we ended our night after midnight in Cadillac. Lots of family, food, fun, smiles, gift exchanges, laughs, and love!

This has been our Christmas Day pattern for the last ten years. Crazy. We enjoy the time with both our families though. It's fun. After baby Bassett is born in March, new traditions might be starting. Adding kids each year has been so much fun. The mornings just keep getting more exciting. I love my nieces and nephews. I'm excited to add our own 9 month old to the Christmas Day fun in 2014.

As I sit on my couch, I can see all the wonderful presents we received in the past few days. (Our new home is looking better every day.) We are so fortunate to have such loving and giving family and friends.

I'm thankful for Christmas Day!

Birthday

Despite my 15 minute trip to the med station for my brewing sinus infection, I had a good birthday.

We really celebrated with my family on Friday night too. Great way to start my vacation. This morning I woke up to my husband's awesome exercise gifts for our basement! That was great!! I am so excited to finally have a treadmill at my house. Love it!

We spent the early afternoon having lunch with my dad. He bought us lunch and me a Nike Detroit Tigers hoody. It's sweet!! I also received many texts, messages, tweets, and Facebook posts from family, friends and former players. It was so much fun to hear from them.

We both got a quick nap in on the couch in the afternoon.

My favorite part of my birthday is our family Christmas Eve party at my moms. Everyone attends and we do our cousin gift exchange.  We received some nice gifts from everyone too. The cousins played. Mylo got a sweet new iPod touch that took me forever to set up, but we got it. He loved it!

I'm thankful that I get to see my family on my birthday. What a great long day!!

Lunch

Today I had an awesome lunch with my good friend Bethany, her daughter Annie, my sister Tara and her kids too. Annie and Paige had fun playing together too. So cute! We hadn't had lunch with Beth in a long time walk ally since she moved to Holt. Man do we miss them. We exchanged some fun gifts too. Bethany and Annie even had a present for my new baby. How thoughtful.

Afterwards, we walked the crossing. That was a fun. The girls enjoyed playing together too. So fun.

I'm thankful that we could all get together and celebrate the holidays. Bethany also gave us her famous gingerbread cookies! Where does she find the time?! They were awesome as always. :)

I'm thankful for a fun lunch with friends.

Lazy Sunday

We had a lazy Sunday. I grocery shopped and did some light cleaning and cooked dinner. We even walked the dogs.

Other than that, we (mostly me) watched The Santa Clause marathon, The Grinch, The Sound of Music, and the Lions lose. Yep. Lots of TV and little of anything else. Loved it. Couldn't think of a better way to enjoy a Sunday.

I'm thankful for my lazy Sunday.

Gifts

Today I spent the day with gifts!

Josh and I got up to start shopping for our final gifts. I needed just a few more things for family and friends. Josh was shopping for our stocking stuffer gifts. I too, had to pick up one more thing for Josh. :)

I got some great deals at my favorite place Kohls. I made a few cool gifts too. I'm excited to give out our finL gifts too.

Then we met up with a friend who gave is a gift. He gave us a gift card for Panera and a sweet birthday necklace for me. It's awesome! I love it! Very thoughtful. Thanks to the Oliver's for the personal gift.

Then we wrapped some gifts. We are finally D O N E wrapping. What a great feeling! :) I'm thankful for Josh's help too. I can't wait until our family receives our gifts.

I'm sitting here admiring our day of gifts. So much fun!

I'm thankful for gifts.

Christmas Break has Started!!

Man that's an awesome feeling to be off for two weeks (minus a basketball tournament).

It was a Good Friday. We delivered a large amount of presents and gift cards to two families in need. It was nice to know we were helping their Christmas be more special. I received some fun gifts and nice cards from staff and students too. Fun.

We then enjoyed our evening at my mom and Larry's house. We celebrated an early birthday for me. (We won't mention age.) All my sisters and the kids made it with grandma too. We had a fun time eating breakfast for dinner! Yummy! I'm thankful my mom worked all day and still did dinner for us. She's awesome! I'm also thankful for the great gifts I received from my family too. They are so generous! :)

I love that break has started and I got to spend the first night with my family.

Thursday

I told myself at 5:20am this morning that if I make it to 5pm tonight, life would be good! Didn't sleep well. Boo.

I went to work, went to an OB appointment, grabbed some lunch, toured some alumni around, and then ran basketball tryouts.

I had two alumni and former classmates stop by for a tour of the new additions to the school. What a blast we had seeing old teachers. :) It was great to see my friends and their kids. So fun!

Making cuts in the afternoon was painful. I feel awful telling a kid they aren't too enough. A few cried, breaks my heart to see that. Ugh. But it was quick. Not fun!

When I arrived home at 530, I was just happy to be home. I knew Friday would be easier. :)

Shopping

I was having a little anxiety about some last minutes shopping I needed to get done. We had a busy evening.  We decided to drive separately to do some shopping by ourselves.

Afterwards, I felt so much better. :) Finally seeing the light.

Goodbye to Grandpa

Today we traveled to Cadillac to say our final goodbyes to Josh's grandpa.

He's spent the last week in the hospital. Poor Rhonda and her sister stayed with him during his final days. We are all glad his suffering is over.

Despite the awful roads and minor accident that took us off course, we had a safe trip to and from Cadillac.  We are both thankful to be able to say goodbye to Josh's grandpa.

Packages in the Mail

Today we received a package in the mail for "Baby Bassett" all the way from Colorado. :)

Aunt Donna sent the baby a little care package. She knitted a little blanket for her and found a few outfits including a bathing suit for 'Baby Bassett'.

It's always fun to receive packages in the mail! I'm thankful for our nice Aunts who send us gifts.

Blessings

Over the past few days, we have been super busy. It seemed like we'd make plans for one thing, but get caught doing another.

Tonight I sat on my couch and thought about all the things Josh and I are grateful for on our lives.

1. The gifts we've already received for Christmas. We got a package from Aunt Kathy and Uncle John in the mail yesterday. We exchanged gifts with Lexi and Tori tonight too. We are so thankful for the generosity.

2. My family. They are great. We had everyone over Saturday for some dinner, sledding, and desert. It was fun! My nephews and niece (soon nieces) feel comfortable at our house. They love our toys and hanging out with each other. It's  a great feeling.

3. Our new home. We love it. It's bigger. It's warmer. It's inviting. It holds our whole family. Love it.

4. Our Christmas tree. It's up and decorated very pretty. I love sitting in our house at night with only our Christmas lights on.

5. Health. I'm thankful we haven't had any tragic loss in our immediate families. Some friends are experiences a tragic unexpected loss tonight. I wish them healing in this awful time. I'm thankful my two sisters had successful deliveries and both have healthy children too.

6. Alexis and Tori are such important parts of our lives. They add so much youth to mine and Josh's lives. We truly care about them as our own. They are always welcome in our home. They are always willing to help us out too, wrapping, cleaning, shopping, babysitting, the list goes on. We know it was not an accident that they were put in our lives.

7. I sat on the couch tonight thinking of how thankful I am for my mom too. She's taught us to be giving to others. It's the way she's always been too. Looking at the presents under our tree, I can see how much I'm like my mother. :)

I'm thankful for these simple things in life. :)

Sledding!

We had our family over for dinner tonight. Might not have been the best night on the roads, but they all made the haul. It was fun.

Tara had the idea to go sledding. Josh and I bought a sled at Meijer today just to add some fun. It was a great time. All the kids had fun in our front yard. I forgot how much fun sledding could be for kids. It was great!

I'm thankful for a fun night of the cousins sledding together.
